How to Experience the Best Fly Fishing in Pennsylvania
Visit Spring Creek, One of the Finest Wild Trout Streams
Spring Creek is arguably one of Pennsylvania’s finest wild trout streams. It rises in the mountains about five miles east of State College and flows northerly to its terminus in Milesburg. Since its consistently been found to be one of the most densely populated wild brown trout streams, anglers come from all over to fish the area.
Local fishermen love the Benner Springs stretch area, accessible off PA Route 150 near the I-99 interchange at Dale Summit/Shiloh Road. Fisherman’s Paradise, the first specially regulated trout stream in the US, and Pennsylvania Fish & Boat commission water below the Paradise, accessible off PA Route 150 near Bellefonte, are also very popular.
Anglers love how easy it is to get to Spring Creek and its gravel and cobbled bed stream, which makes wading a breeze, except at Fisherman’s Paradise, where wading is forbidden. As no-kill regulations apply throughout Spring Creek, be sure to catch and release.
