Things to do at Penn State
A perfect location…9 miles from Penn State University in Historic Bellefonte, PA.
Experience all that Penn State has to offer from world-class entertainment at the Bryce Jordan Center to exciting football games at Beaver Stadium. In the spring you can enjoy an afternoon strolling around the Arboretum and then stop in the famous Berkey Creamery for some delicious, student-made ice cream. You can catch a free concert at Eisenhower Auditorium and see beautiful artwork at the Palmer Museum. Whether you’re a parent visiting your son or daughter, a graduate student looking for a quick getaway, or an alum returning for a special event, your luxurious accommodations await you at the Reynolds Mansion Bed and Breakfast.
Unique events on campus and in downtown State College bring many visitors to our area such as First Night on New Year’s Eve. Come see the ice sculptures on Allen Street and stop in one of the many venues, such as the State Theatre, to hear a concert or see a show. Another great Penn State event is called Thon which is a dance marathon run completely by the students to raise money for pediatric cancer. Every February thousands of students dance for 72 hours at the Bryce Jordan Center. The Penn State Men’s Hockey team thrills the crowd with a group routine. Parents of students staying at the Reynolds Mansion really look forward to their three-course breakfast after a late night supporting the cause.
Other great annual events include the Penn State Blue/White Football Game in April, Happy Volley volleyball tournament over Memorial Day Weekend, and Arts Fest in July. Our personal favorite, however, is 4th Fest. Every Fourth of July the entire day is filled with fun outdoor activities which culminates in one of the best fireworks display in the country! You can watch the fireworks from your car in a field adjacent to Beaver Stadium or you can go into Medlar Field at Lubrano Park baseball stadium and watch them from the stands. Either way you always have a great view. After a long hot day, guests return to the delightfully cool, air-conditioned Reynolds Mansion!
The Reynolds Mansion, situated in the beautiful Victorian town of Bellefonte, is your home away from home while visiting Penn State University. Just a short nine miles from campus, we are close enough to be convenient but far enough to feel like you’re getting away from it all. Relax in the Snuggery with a brandy night cap and after a restful sleep enjoy a delicious three-course breakfast in the morning.
